Interactive Education for APPs in Osteoporosis & Metabolic Bone Disease

The Santa Fe APP Workshop on Metabolic Bone Diseases is a one-day, non-CME interactive educational program designed for advanced practice providers (APPs) with an interest in skeletal health and metabolic bone disease. Held on July 30, 2026, the workshop is presented under the direction of the Osteoporosis Foundation of New Mexico and co-directed by E. Michael Lewiecki, MD, and Alexandra Rocco, PA-C.

The program features nationally and internationally recognized faculty presenting practical, clinically focused education on the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases. Topics include fracture risk assessment, bone density interpretation, current and emerging osteoporosis therapies, calcium and parathyroid disorders, and recognition of rare skeletal diseases. The workshop format includes didactic presentations, interactive case-based discussions, and opportunities for attendees to engage directly with faculty and peers.

Selected participants will receive:

  • Complimentary registration to the Santa Fe APP Workshop
  • Complimentary registration to the 26th Annual Santa Fe Bone Symposium
  • Hotel accommodations for Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30
  • Travel support, including roundtrip airfare or mileage reimbursement for those driving to Santa Fe
  • Roundtrip shuttle transportation between Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) and Santa Fe, as applicable
  • Breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and program breaks during the workshop
  • Opportunities for networking and interactive learning with nationally recognized faculty and peers

Any additional travel-related expenses are the responsibility of the participant unless approved in advance.

Applications for workshop attendees are now open and will be accepted through June 15, 2026, or until capacity is reached. Attendance is limited to 50 participants. Due to limited capacity, early application is encouraged.

Eligibility

The workshop is intended for nurse practitioners and physician assistants involved in the care of patients with osteoporosis, endocrine disorders, rheumatologic conditions, orthopedic conditions, or other aspects of skeletal health. Space may be limited due to the interactive nature of the program.
