The inaugural Santa Fe APP Workshop on Metabolic Bone Diseases was held on July 30, 2026, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Presented by the Osteoporosis Foundation of New Mexico (OFNM), the workshop brought together nurse practitioners and physician assistants from across the country for a full day of focused education, discussion, and collaboration.
The workshop was designed specifically for advanced practice providers who care for patients with osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. With attendance intentionally limited to approximately 50 participants, the program provided an interactive learning environment that encouraged questions, discussion, and direct engagement with faculty.
Led by Workshop Co-Directors E. Michael Lewiecki, MD, and Alexandra S. Rocco, PA-C, the program featured expert faculty presenting practical, clinically relevant topics encountered in the diagnosis and management of metabolic bone diseases. Each session included dedicated time for questions and discussion, giving attendees the opportunity to explore challenging cases and issues they encounter in their own practices.
Thank You for Making Our First Workshop a Success
We are incredibly pleased with the response to our inaugural APP Workshop and grateful to the attendees, faculty, sponsors, and supporters who helped make the program possible.
The enthusiasm and participation throughout the day reinforced the need for educational programs created specifically for APPs working in bone health. We look forward to building on the success of this first workshop and continuing to provide opportunities for APP education and collaboration.

Looking Ahead
Following the success of our inaugural program, the Santa Fe APP Workshop on Metabolic Bone Diseases will return in 2027.
To provide this educational opportunity to as many advanced practice providers as possible, each year’s workshop is designed for a new group of participants. Individuals who have previously attended the workshop will not be eligible to participate again.
We look forward to welcoming a new group of nurse practitioners and physician assistants to Santa Fe in 2027 and continuing to grow a community of APPs with greater knowledge and confidence in the care of patients with osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases.
